hello, people!
it's 7:59 p.m. and raining outside. saturday night and staying at home just like the other days. what do you expect from my weekend? lol. what makes weekend different is that i can run away from my uber busy college life for a moment, just a little moment, and i can spare my time to watch korean drama and tv shows, workout (which i barely do), and many more. but tonight i decide to write since its been so long, right!
to be very honest, my life has been totally changed since day 1 of college. in a good way; in a bad way.
i am really grateful to have the chance to get into faculty of medicine andalas university through sbmptn. i never thought that i'd be here today because being a doctor was just my childhood dream that i have left long time ago. but on june 28, 2016, my path has been chosen. and there is no coming back.
i started college happily, thinking that i was the chosen one. my college adopts the problem-based learning system so the students are divided into small groups consisting of 10 people that will last for one year. but my group only consisted of 9 people since one of the members decided to enroll in another college. now let me introduce my group, 1A.
these were our first photos omg look at our fetus looks cri how fast time flies!! feels like yesterday but its actually one year ago. raissa, rofifa, frieska, karin, fani, dwi, caki, and our one and only ejak. they are my first love in medical school life. my dumb phase i spent with them. i was lucky to be in a group with these people. i can throw a joke and they get it without getting offended by the way i talk since i come from medan and many people get surprised at my speaking tone. my groupmates from padang admitted that they were surprised too at first but then they could accept it. i tried to adapt to my new surroundings; the people and the way they talked to each other which is very different to my old place. i used to casually call my friends with "kau" but it is considered harsh in here. "kamu" is the right thing to address your friend. i found it very cringeworthy as in medan "kamu" is often used by people who flirt with someone they like, and also used when you talk to people you don't know. but for me, if i know someone's name, i'd rather call them by their name like "ejak mau kemana?" than "kamu mau kemana?" because the latter would sound so flirty. even if i'm not close to a friend, if we're the same age, then i will just call her with "kau". that's how medan people normally talk. why so surprised, people?
still, "dimana bumi dipijak, disitu langit dijunjung", the proverb said.
i managed to adapt well with the linguistic issue. i can't call friends by "kau" forever as "kamu" sounds more polite and more accepted. buuut having friends from pekanbaru and jambi really gives me comfort. they speak the same language family as me and that makes me feel quite like home.
shoutout to anak-anak rantau!

ah ya! the biggest difference between high school and college is MY GRADE :((((((
my high school friends won't believe if i tell them about the grade i'm getting here HAHAHAHAH
the first grade i got in blok 1.1 really left.me.in.shock.
everyone
please
tell me that it's because i didn't study hard enough
not because i'm a stupid young girl lost in a medical school
HAHHHH
ok let me explain eventhough this will sound like an excuse
i never took naps during high school. i only took naps when i fasted or after taking medicine. so after max 9 hours class in a day, i didn't take naps. little did i know that my body is weak and it wouldn't work that way. i used up my energy all day then i forced myself to stay awake until midnight to study and do tasks. i ended up sleeping until the next morning with nothing in my hand. AND IT OCCURED FOR MONTHS UNTIL I REALIZED WHERE IT WENT WRONG. DO YOU GUYS SEE THE TIME I WASTED?! T.T
i want to talk about my activities during junior year but my writing speed is getting slower so i guess i can write it later because i'm so sleepy and sleep is now my priority.
GOOD NIGHT, PEOPLE!
a glimpse of my junior year
